Very early, the Cure and Fiction Records started communicating to their fans base : back to 1979, an official fanzine was issued in the UK, including drawings by Porl (who wasn't part of the band anymore), texts and photos around the band. The fanzine was simply called "The Cure" and also related day by day concerts reviews. All this being written by Robert. Lol would occasionally provide drawings as well. "The Cure" lasted until mid 1980, it stopped with the number 4.

There was a fan club founded some time around this era. It was called "The Clinic". Subscriptors ("patients" !) were informed in the mail about forthcoming tour dates, special appearences... the newsletter (a simple sheet) was at first being taken care of by Mary Poole (Robert's girlfriend and now wife) ! For one pound/year, you would
get "cured".

Things changed in 1984 with the growing success of the band and the need to start a real fan club (it was called "Cure club"). With an annual subscription you would receive autographs, a member card, badges, and even a Cure wallet ! A newsletter called "Adventures and Plans" would also be sent in. Still written by Robert, informing about next releases, giving thoughts about concerts...The Cure Club stopped in spring 1986.

Then, Janie (a fan) would set up a new fan club herself in late 1986 (this time, one that would last). Under the name "Cure News", the "International Information Service" would send at first a couple of sheets including news as well as an interesting questionary that Robert would reply to in every issue ! The newsletter was free of charge (with the exception of the postage costs and an envelop) as the band didn't want subscriptions to be mandatory anymore.

Issues went bigger and bigger with time and eventually all the band would participate in the "questions and answers" bit. Fans reviews of shows were also included, songs inspirations revealed by Robert, few photographs would also be printed. Janie would "retire" some time in 1998, but the service continued with Chris White (who had been helping before) for few more numbers (Cure News 21 would be the last one). It seems that it was stopped in 2000 because the band would use their own website to spread news then.
