AUGUST
19th
Imola, Jammin'Festival
On the pretty uncommunicative night, Robert declared on the first encore
that it was the "first show of the summer, I'm having to concentrate
very hard and also I'm getting lost in what we're doing so...". A Forest
had the drums kicking back at the end of the song to the great enthousiasm
of the crowd.
20th
Napoli, Neopolis Festival
Long concert. A Forest was played in its single version (no intro, like
in 1998). The group would play it that way in 2004.
23rd
Milano, Piazza del Cannone
An half an hour show for MTV. Mainly singles and Before Three.
25th
Köln, Tanzbrunnen
Pretty long show. Robert Smith was more chatty than the previous nights.
Four of the new songs were played for the first time on stage : Anniversary,
(I Don't Know What's Going) On, Taking Off, Going Nowhere.
26th
Scheesel, Hurricane Festival
A bit of a disappointing night. The Cure's set was too "experimental"
for most of the audience who weren't Cure fans apparently.
27th
Neuhausen ob eck, Southside
Festival
The show started with two old favorites : Plainsong and Shake Dog Shake.
From time to time, the band would play these again (instead
of Lost/Labyrinth).
30th
Paris, Olympia
Almost acoustic set for a French radio (invite only). Quite short (45 minutes)
but a totally different performance. Robert admitted he didn't realise they
used so many sustained notes usually. And playing songs like Shake Dog Shake
on acoustic guitar and piano proved to be a funny experience.
JULY
01st
Werchter, Festival
Roger felt sick the whole night. At some point, he left the stage and the
group performed One Hundred Years without him. Then, Perry's guitar on Us
Or Them didn't work anymore.
03rd
Six Fours, Festival du
Gaou
Quite a pop setlist. Three Imaginary Boys and 10:15 Saturday Night were
played for the first time on the summer tour. Fascination Street sounded
a bit different without Robert's guitar (technical problem).
04th
Aix-les-Bains, Musilac
Festival
The second part of the show saw the band playing the old material : The
Figurehead, The Drowning Man, Faith... The few extra lyrics on that last
track stated : "It's never me".
09th
Manchester, Move Festival
A good show but a bit short. Robert confessed that it was "frustrating
not having another hour to play".
10th
Kildare, Oxygen Festival
16th
Santiago de Compostella,
Xacobeo Festival
Long concert. They were allowed more time on stage. Close To Me and The
Lovecats were added to the live repertoire. Faith was played again (a logic
song to play in such a city).
17th
Vilar de Mouros, Festival
Why Can't I Be You ? was an exclusive to this show. Close To Me and The
Lovecats were played again.
