Smith Parry Alllen producers Parched Art sleeve Polydor released the album in Europe (821 136-1). In America, it was released by Sire Records (25086-1) and is out of print since then. Japanese copies came out on VAP (35117-25) and included a poster. The Top was released in 1987 in Brazil (all albums from Three Imaginary Boys to Japanese Whispers were never released there). The European cassettes have a different cover than LP copies. They also includes the lyrics of the songs (except the Spanish copy), Polydor 821 136-4. America : Sire Records (25086-4) Polydor released the European CD (821 136-2). In Japan it came out on the VAP label (85008-32) was re-released in 1990 by Polydor (POCP-1877). The American cd came out in 1986 on Sire Records (25086-2). |

Promoting the forthcoming new album "The
Top", other copies were distributed with plain black or white sleeves and in much more important quantities. It includes Birdmad Girl, Shake Dog Shake and Bananafishbones on the a side (the b side being blank). |

CD1 includes
remastered "The Top" album. Bananafishbones was speeded up (comparing
with the old release) as Robert Smith claimed numerous times that the original
album was mixed at the wrong speed ! CD2 (rarities 1982-84) includes unreleased, demos and live takes... : You Stayed..., Ariel, A Hand Inside My Mouth, Sadacic, Shake Dog Shake (demo), Piggy In the Mirror (demo), Birdmad Girl (demo), Give Me It (demo), Throw Your Foot (demo), Happy The Man (demo), The Caterpillar (demo), Dressing Up (alt mix), Wailing Wall (alt mix), The Empty World (live), Bananafishbones (live), The Top (live), Forever (live 84). |
